01/05/2009: 3 New Jersey backs headed to NFL?
Call it an once in a lifetime occurrence, but it will truly be a day to remember when the 2009 NFL Draft comes around there will possibly be three former New Jersey High School tailbacks taken in the first -early second round. Those same backs all were named to a 2008 All American team and all have the talent to be stars at the next level despite all being underclassmen. Left to right, UConn's Donald Brown II, Georgia's Knowshon Moreno, and Iowa's Shonn Greene.

12/23/2008: Grafton has BIG year for Fighting Irish
Notre Dame's Vail Grafton may not big the biggest recruit from the Class of 2009 - but he plays like it. This past season the Fighting Irish from Mercer County New Jersey finished the 2008 season with a 8-2 record and the senior had a lot to do with it.

12/15/2008: Piscataway's Hush: Temple, All Star Classic bound
Just a bit more than 24 hours after former Piscataway High School (NJ) star and current Ohio State Buckeye Malcolm Jenkins became the 2008 Jim Thorpe Award winner as the nations best collegiate defensive-back - it was current Piscataway Chief Aaron Hush who took his first step to making a name for himself at the collegiate ranks. Hush has also be pre-selected to represent New Jersey in the 2009 NJ-North East All Star Classic (www.thefootballclassic.com).

12/12/2008: Glassboro finishes 12-0 behind Breaker
Two years ago he was at Shalick High School in Salem County in New Jersey. Last season he was often found on the receiving end of his brother Justin's passes as their new team (Glassboro, Gloucester County) finished with a 12-0 record and state title. In 2008 the current senior, Tim Breaker, became the Bulldogs signal-caller and leader on both sides of the ball.

12/08/2008: Jersey recruit makes verbal pledge to Owls
In his final high school game, Wall Township's (NJ) FB Blaze Caponegro carried the ball 40 times for 347 yards and four scores. Those number didn't come against any slouches - just the 2008 Central Jersey Group II Champions Manasquan Blue Warriors. On the year the Shore Conference rushing champion piled-up 1,842 yards and now Caponegro has focused his attention on playing at the next level.

The Freehold Boro Colonials have had it's share of special high school players, a few going on to shine at the professional level. The latest player to thrill the Colonial faithful is no other than senior sensation Brandon Brown who has led the Colonials to a 10-0 record heading into the Central Jersey Group III final against Middletown South.

11/17/2008: Somerset D-lineman hears from Gators
The Florida Gators already have a handful of former New Jersey stars including Will Hill (St. Peters Prep - who recorded his first collegiate interception last weekend), Justin Trattou (Don Bosco), and Brendan Beal (Roxbury). The Garden State has a few players from the Class of 2009 that coach Urban Meyer has his eyes glued on including one of the states top defensive-linemen.

10/29/2008: Phillips: One of two Spartans shinning
DePaul Catholic's Shakim Phillips proved that he was legit earlier this year by winning the 2008 Chuck Mound Tri State Challenge WR MVP award at Giants Stadium. This fall, along with senior-back James Jurewicz, the junior receiver has lit up the scoreboard for the Spartans by way of torching defensive-backs who have tried to cover him.

Irvington High School's (NJ) Joshua Evans has proven to the world that he is one of the nations top football recruits and is a player who is seeking the title of being the states TOP 2009 recruit.
