02/27/2008: New York DB is ready for senior season
Iona Prep's (NY) junior defensive-back Darlos James feels that he has a lot to prove to the world. Last fall he spent half of the season on the sideline with an ankle injury and now he is forced to play catch-up to other defensive-backs in the Class of 2009. 02/26/2008: Burlington County OL gets his first offer
South Jersey will be represented quite well in the Garden State's Class of 2009 "Top Recruits" list and the offensive-line is one of the positions that will be a headliner. At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds - Hodges displayed his All American potential last fall for the Red Raiders as they compiled a 9-3 record. 02/18/2008: Pro Day 2008: RB Daniels impresses all
Toms River North (NJ) finished the 2007 football season with a 12-0 record and a South Jersey Group IV title under first year head coach Chip LaBarca Jr. The former Penn State receiver had quite a few reliable weapons on his team last fall including University of Miami-bound linebacker Zach Kane and one of the teams unsung heroes was a soft-spoken, fleet-footed, skilled back who stole the show at one of Chuck Mound's 2008 Pro Day Events. 02/15/2008: Bosco's Romain is a TOP player for '08

02/07/2008: STILL SEEKING A HOME: All State DB
Long Branch High School (NJ) finished the 2007 season with a 10-2 record and one of coach Dan George's reasons for success was due to the effort of his 5-foot-10,180 pound senior, Shawn Brown. Brown, an All State defensive back and NJ Super 100 team member, caught college recruiters by surprise late in the recruiting phase and is still seeking a path to the collegiate ranks. 02/06/2008: Signing Day: Better late than never
New Jersey's senior WR Nadir Brown East Orange Campus didn't know what to think when it came to making a decision on Signing Day 2008 and neither did Blair Academy's Athlete Ed Imeokparia. Brown was still waiting to get a solidified offer when he awoke this morning and Imeokparia had a handful of offers on the table and prepared to make a decision live on CSTV even though he was waiting on an offer that had yet to be offered to him by noon Wednesday. Did they get what they both wished for?

There comes a time when college recruiters run across a recruit and are forced to question whether or not a player can fit into their particular program. Well this year is no different and a few players will get the early nod as far as receiving offers - while others may have to wait a bit longer in effort of doing so. 01/19/2008: First offer comes in for Calabrese
Verona High School (NJ) star Carlo Calabrese knew that it was coming - but he just didn't know when. The junior had heard and read about all the big-named junior recruits who had already acquired their first, second and third scholarship offers and the Essex County recruit could only vision the time he would be amongst those lucky players. That time is now and the super-athletic linebacker can only look back on the time that he was offer-less.

01/14/2008: Trying to make a name for himself
A few weeks ago Blair Academy's (NJ) Dion Lewis (at right in picture) went down to San Antonio, Texas to make a statement and he did just that. At 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, the junior at the Warren County school stood-out amongst the 500 combine attendees and delivered a glimpse of the talent that will make him one of the Eastern Region's TOP runners for the upcoming class alongside Immaculata's Theo Riddick (right). 01/04/2008: Elite College Combine Alum's to shine in Army and Under Armour All American games Saturday
The Elite College Combine is going on it's fifth year and there have been a host of alum's who have went on the play in All American games and this year you can add a few more to that impressive list. The #1 ranked QB in the nation for the Class of 2008, the 2007 Elite College Combine QB and overall Offensive MVP - EJ Manuel (Florida State bound - above left with Chris Melvin of Eliterecruits.com) heads the list of the Under Armour All American participants while the 2007 Elite College Combine Defensive Lineman and overall Defensive MVP Reggie Ellis (Dunbar HS, DC headed to Illinois) heads the list of players for the Army All American game.
Here are just a few of the former Elite alums who went of to play in All American games: Brian Cushing (USC LB), Michael Ray Garvin (Florida State CB), Nyan Boateng (Stanford WR), Derrick Williams (Penn State WR), Anthony Davis (Rutgers OL), Marvin Austin (UNC DL), Vidal Hazelton (USC WR), Eugene Monroe (Virginia OL), Phillip Taylor (Penn State DL), Antwine Perez (Maryland DB), Jared Odrick (PSU DL), Zach Frazier (UConn QB), Tyrod Taylor (Virginia Tech QB), Pat Devlin (Penn State QB) among many others.
The Army American All American game will be played January 5, 2008 at 12 noon (aired on NBC) and will include seniors Brandon Smith (Michigan), Reggie Ellis (Illinois) and Lamaar Thomas (Ohio State) while The Under Armour All American game will also be played January 5, 2008 at 2pm (aired on ABC) and will include Manuel, Mike Glennon (NC State QB) and Andrew Sweat (Ohio State LB) - all Elite alums. New Brunswick (NJ)'s DB Brandon Smith), another Elite alum - will be choosing MICHIGAN over a host of schools.

01/02/2008: Neptune's Peavy: Another junior RB to see

01/01/2008: West Essex's Tom Bianchi is on a mission
The 2007 West Essex High School football went 11-1 in 2007 thanks to the stellar play of a host of players. Coach Dave Drozjock's Knights defeated Morris Hills 27-6 to win the North II Group II state final on December 2 and one of his leaders will return to the Essex County gridiron next fall - DEFENSIVE-END/TIGHT-END TOM BIANCHI.
